Curled Shingle Replacement on a 1960s Rancher
Before
AfterThe old three-tab shingles on this Ventura rancher had curled badly along the south-facing slope, the side that takes the most afternoon sun. We tore off the old roof, replaced two sheets of water-damaged plywood sheathing at the eave, and installed new architectural shingles with proper starter strips and ridge venting. The result is a roofline that looks sharper and sheds water the way it was supposed to from the beginning. Every nail pattern followed the manufacturer’s spec, and the homeowner had a written price before the first shingle came off.
Leak Repair at a Chimney Flashing
Before
AfterThis home in the foothills above Ventura had a slow ceiling stain that only appeared after a week of onshore flow, the kind of leak that hides until the wall is already wet. We found the old chimney flashing had separated at the shingle line, letting water run behind the step flashing instead of over it. Our crew cut out the old metal, installed new step flashing and counter flashing with a proper cricket on the uphill side, and sealed the transition with a high-grade polyurethane sealant. The drywall inside was patched by the homeowner’s contractor after we confirmed the roof deck was dry.
Full Tear-Off and Replacement in Midtown Ventura
Before
AfterA Midtown Ventura bungalow needed more than patching, the original roof had a second layer of shingles over the first, and the decking underneath was starting to soften in places. Birchbark tore off both layers, re-nailed the decking to meet Ventura’s current shear requirements, and installed a complete GAF Timberline HDZ system with new underlayment, drip edge, and ventilation. The homeowners now have a roof that meets code for the next major storm cycle, and they know exactly what was installed, because the written scope matched the final invoice to the dollar.
Soffit and Fascia Repair After Dry Rot

Ventura’s marine air keeps the hills green, but it also feeds the kind of slow dry rot that eats fascia boards from the inside out. On this job, the eave line had been painted over so many times that the rot wasn’t obvious until the paint started bubbling. We removed the damaged sections, replaced them with primed, rot-resistant lumber, and rehung the gutter properly so water drains away from the board instead of onto it. The homeowner received a photo of the finished clean-up before the crew pulled away from the curb.
Skylight Flashing and Surround Replacement

The original skylight on this East Ventura home had been sealed with roof cement so many times that no one could tell where the actual flashing ended and the patch job began. We pulled the old surround, found the curb underneath was still solid, and installed a new flashing kit matched to Owens Corning Duration shingles. The family said the room below the skylight feels brighter now, likely because the glass isn’t covered in old caulk and dirt anymore. Shoe covers at the door, drop cloths through the hallway, and a photo of the clean-up before we left, same as every job.
Tile Roof Repair After Wind Damage

After a strong Santa Ana event pushed through Ventura, this tile roof had a section of displaced tiles near the ridge and a few broken pans scattered down-slope. We re-secured the loose tiles, sourced replacements that matched the existing profile and color, and checked the underlayment beneath each break for hidden tears. Tile work on a roof walk always means foot traffic on brittle material, so our crew used foam pads and roof brackets to spread their weight. The owner, Erik Lindgren, checked every replacement himself before the crew came down.
