Owens Corning Ridge Vent Installation: The Ventura Owner’s Guide
We install Owens Corning ridge vents throughout Ventura, typically for $380 to $720 depending on roof length, pitch, and access. Most jobs are done in a single visit, and we usually stock the common Owens Corning VentSure profiles on the truck. The way most Ventura homeowners find us is by spotting water stains near the peak of the ceiling or noticing attic heat that never seems to clear out even with the marine breeze coming through. The ridge vent stopped doing its job, and the roof is paying for it.
Which Owens Corning Models This Applies To
We work with the Owens Corning VentSure line, which covers the 4-foot rigid sections most roofs in Ventura were built with, plus the roll-form VentSure strip for longer runs over 40 feet. The compatibility gotcha we see often: older homes in Midtown and around the mission were sometimes vented with a different profile, and the new VentSure won’t seat properly on the existing slot unless we re-cut the opening. We check the slot width before we quote anything. If you’re holding a section in your hand, the part number is stamped on the underside near the baffle edge. We also install GAF and CertainTeed ridge vent systems when a Ventura homeowner has a mixed roof, but for Owens Corning-specific work we stay with VentSure because the baffle design plays better with Owens Corning shingles.

Signs Your Owens Corning Ridge Vent Installation Is Failing
- Attic heat doesn’t clear in summer. Even a small ridge vent moves a surprising amount of air. When afternoon attic temperatures creep past 140 degrees, the vent is usually blocked by debris, or the baffles have collapsed from age and pressed flat against the slot.
- Water staining near the ceiling peak. Ridge vent leaks in Ventura are almost always a flashing issue at the ends, where the vent meets the hip or the gable. Driving coastal rain finds those end caps fast.
- Shingle granule buildup inside the vent. The Owens Corning baffle catches granules over time. Once airflow drops, the granules bake in place and the vent stops breathing.
- You can see light through the slot at the wrong angle. A properly seated VentSure section sits tight against the opening. If you can slip a finger between the vent and the roof deck, the fasteners have backed out or the section was undersized from day one.
- The vent sections have pulled apart at the seams. Thermal expansion will walk a ridge vent along the peak over years of Ventura sun. A half-inch gap between sections is enough to let wind-driven rain in.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a typical Ventura single-story home with a 24 to 40 foot ridge, the installed price runs $380 to $720. Two-story homes or roofs with steep pitches and limited staging add labor. Every job includes the Owens Corning-compatible vent material, end caps, fasteners, and removal of the old section. What drives the range is mostly linear feet and whether we’re pulling off shingle caps to do it right, which we always do. We don’t caulk over a failing vent and call it fixed. You’ll get a written price in dollars before any work starts, and the install is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can absolutely check your own attic on a sunny Ventura afternoon. Look for daylight at the slot, evidence of water intrusion near the peak, and whether the vent sections sit flush against the roof. What you shouldn’t do is pull shingle caps and reset a vent section on a ladder without a proper harness and a second person on the ground. Roof edge work on a two-story Ventura home in the afternoon wind is not a Saturday project. If the vent is damaged or separated, call us at (350) 240-5534 and we’ll send someone out to look. The quote is free, and you’ll see every number in writing before a nail goes in.
FAQs
You’ll get 15 to 20 years from a VentSure ridge vent here, provided the original install was done right. The marine layer and UV exposure don’t hurt the vent itself, but the shingle caps over it age faster, and when those go the vent usually follows.
Sometimes. Loose end caps or a single separated section can often be fastened back down. But if the baffles have collapsed or the material is brittle from age, patching it just buys you a season. We’ll tell you straight which one you have. Call (350) 240-5534 and we’ll take a look.
Most Owens Corning ridge vent replacements in Ventura are done in 3 to 5 hours, including the shingle cap work and clean-up. We’ll have the ground swept and photographed before we leave.
We keep the common VentSure 4-foot sections and end caps on the truck, along with the equivalent profiles from GAF and CertainTeed. If your Ventura home needs a less common size, we order it and have it within a couple of days.
If your ridge vent is failing or you’re not sure, call (350) 240-5534. Erik Lindgren will walk you through what he sees, what it costs, and what the fix looks like, before anyone climbs a ladder. A roof should outlast the paperwork, so we make sure both are done right.
